Ecological Master Plan Presentation on December 5

Our Fall event is free and open to both members and the public. We look forward to seeing you at 6:30 PM at the Fayerweather Yacht Club at 51 Brewster Street on Wednesday, December 5th.

The ecological consultants who have been working on the grant-funded study will present their findings and recommendations for the first phase of an Ecological Master Plan for the Ash Creek Tidal Estuary.  Steven Danzer, Ph.D., who has his doctorate in Natural Resources and is also a Soil Scientist as well as Professional Wetland Scientist will present as well as Bryan Quinn, RLA of One Nature, LLC, ecological services and design.

  • 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM Social Hour Cash bar, hearty appetizers, and dessert.
  • 7:30 PM to 9 PM  Presentation  The consultants will present their findings followed by a Q&A period.

Funding for this project comes through three sources. The Fairfield County Community Foundation has provided a $5,000 grant. The Watershed Assistance Small Grants Program, conducted in association with the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection under Section 319 of the Clean Water Act. The small grants program is administered by Rivers Alliance of Connecticut. They have also provided a $5,000 grant for the project.  In-kind donations have also been provided by two ecological consultants: Steve Danzer, Ph.D. of Steven Danzer Ph.D. & Associates LLC, a professional wetlands scientist, and Bryan Quinn, RLA  of One Nature,LLC, a specialist in ecological habitat restoration.

ACCA members have priority for reservationsand will be confirmed immediately.  Non-member reservations will not be confirmed until December 3.

COMING ATTRACTIONS

Our next presentation will be on the ecological, social, and cultural impact of the Ash Creek tidal estuary from a historical perspective over the past 400 years.  This research project was member-funded and involved archival research.  This presentation will be given early next year and priority for reservations will be given to our members first,then non-members.
